Land Rover Defender 110 3.5i County Station Wagon
Qualifies for export to USA/ Canada
This 110 was bought by ourselves last year as part of a batch of vehicles taken on from a customer that moved abroad and didn't have the time/ space to take the cars with them.
The previous owner sourced and imported this example from a dry region of South Africa, he had the MOT done by ourselves and any repairs carried out at the time. This included new suspension bushes, power steering pump, the rear brakes were stripped, new shoes and wheel cylinders installed and finally a service and a tune up. This then allowed the Land Rover to be registered in the UK on its designated 'G' registration.
- Over the last 4 months the 110 has seen some upgrades
* The Carburettors have been replaced with the Lucas 14CUX fuel injection, this transformed the car. the throttle response and economy gains are very impressive.
* Ignition system upgraded with a Mallory distributor and sports ignition coil
* Double S stainless steel exhaust system including tubular manifolds.
* Boost alloy wheels with General Grabber tyres
* Td5 seats in techno grey have been installed ( originals will come with the car)
- Vehicle Condition
The early 90 and 110 models for the South African market like this one were built with a galvanised Bulkhead and Chassis. When Land Rover rebranded them to the Defender they no longer continued supplying them galvanised so these are very sought after examples. The chassis still has its galvanised finish and shows no signs of corrosion ( it does however have some desert dust in the nooks and crannies which makes you look twice!) The bulkhead also shows no bubbling of paint etc and has not seen any repairs.
The bodywork is very straight and original, the odd mark is to be expected and the wheel arch plastic spats are showing their age. a spare wheel carrier has been fitted which is a useful addition
A later td5 techno grey interior has been installed recently, of which transformed the inside. The original blue velour trim will go with the car to be kept to one side for future originality. The rear floor carpet has been replaced as the old one was showing its age. The interior is looking very presentable.
Air conditioning is installed to this example however we have not investigated how well it works/ if it works at all. we do have the facilities for A/C charging and repairs but have not had the time to look into it. The system would have been a dealer fitted option - it is worth noting that on the earlier cars you will need to have the system converted to use R134A as R12 refrigerant is no longer available.
Long Range Fuel tanks - in addition to the standard rear centre tank, the under seat 90 tank in installed as well as a saddle tank on the filler neck side of the main fuel tank.
Fresh water tank - A fresh water tank is situation to the left of the main fuel tank, this is filled from the inside of the Land Rover and has an external tap tuckerd under the car to allow water to be drawn from the tank.
The original owners manual and service book is with the car the car!
